[JHON W. STALEY] Director of Mathematics
The work I do

I am currently a partner for school design services at Transcend, where I work on a team that shares the Whole Child Model with partner schools in Washington, DC, Tennessee, and Texas. Before this I served as the founding Head of School at Van Ness Elementary, where the model was developed and codified. Before Van Ness, I worked in the DCPS central office as the Director of Teacher Retention and Recognition. My team developed projects to improve retention of highly effective teachers, including LIFT: Leadership Initiative for Teachers, a career ladder system for teachers. Prior to this I worked on the development of IMPACT, the district’s teacher evaluation system, and taught PK3 up to 2nd grade in public and charter schools in DC, Oakland, and East Palo Alto.

ABOUT US
[ TITLE TEMPLATE LEVEL 01B ]

As a team of former educators, we understand the challenges facing teachers and leaders and the difference the right resources and support can make in being able to deliver the kind of instruction that sparks learning for all students. We understand that the most useful and effective tools and guidance are grounded in both the latest pedagogical research and educator insights into what works in the classroom.

We work with people in a variety of education roles to ensure more students have access to joyful, high-quality, asset-based instruction. We’re proud to partner with professional learning organizations, like TNTP, Leading Educators, and UnboundEd; state education leaders in Massachusetts and Maryland; district leaders in Philadelphia, Denver, Evanston, and South San Francisco; and education organizations like the Council of Great City Schools, the English Learners Success Forum, and EdReports.

[ HOW WE WORK. WHY WE WORK ]

At Student Achievement Partners, we believe providing joyful, asset-based, high-quality instruction is the key to preparing all students, especially historically marginalized Black and multilingual students, to thrive academically and lead choice-filled lives. By supporting educators with concrete guidance and tools to deliver relevant, engaging grade-level instruction for every student, we can deliver on the promise of public education and unlock student potential.
